Mica Corporation has been an active member of the Technical Association for the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI) for more than 40 years. Over the last four decades, Mica employees have helped organize events, held a variety of positions on TAPPI boards, written white papers and presentations, instructed at educational courses, and even created a scholarship for student-members of TAPPI.
More recently, the younger generation of TAPPI members at Mica have taken a hands-on approach to improve and enhance TAPPI’s digital communications and outreach efforts. Mica’s Communications Manager, Jessi Spadaccino, and Mica’s Sales and Marketing Strategy Manager, Jaclyn Epstein, have been volunteering with TAPPI’s Young Professional Division Leadership Council, and have helped make big strides towards TAPPI’s goals.
Jaclyn, the Director of Communications for the YP Division, helped create and promote the first-ever Young Professional-led webinar about “Moving Past Generational Differences” that successfully launched in September 2018. If you’re a TAPPI member, you can view the replay here. Jaclyn also generates a quarterly digital newsletter for young professionals. Anyone can sign up by using this link.
Jessi, the Director of Digital Communications for the YP Division, has helped completely revamp the Young Professional’s microsite to include more information about the division and how to get involved. The site just launched in April. You can get a sneak peek and check it out here before the big, official launch in the coming weeks!
One of Mica’s more seasoned TAPPI members has been working with the International Flexible Packaging and Extrusion Division (IFPED) on enhancing its educational courses and events. Rob Hammond, Mica’s Technical Sales Director and Past Chair of the IFPED division, is helping to put together a panel of experts to speak about how to “Make Converting Innovation a Reality” at the Global Pouch Forum in Rosemont, IL in June. This is the first time TAPPI has had a panel during the Global Pouch Forum.
Rob will also join Susie Lange, one of Mica’s Technical Sales Representative and TAPPI member, in presenting at TAPPI’s Extrusion Coating Course in Atlanta in August.
Darrell Landry, one of Mica’s Technical Sales Representatives and current Technical Program Lead of IFPED’s technical program planning team, has also been helping to develop and execute the highly anticipated North American International Flexible Packaging and Extrusion Division Conference in San Diego, CA April 18-22, 2020.
