Rob Hammond, Mica’s Technical Sales Director, has won the TAPPI International Flexible Packaging and Extrusion Division’s (IFPED) Leadership and Service Award and the Andreas Ahbrandt prize for 2020. Hammond will be presented with the award during IFPED’s half-day virtual conference on March 17, 2021, and during the in-person IFPED Conference awards lunch in 2022.
Hammond has been a member of TAPPI and an employee at Mica Corporation since 1998. He has held many positions in the IFPED (formerly PLACE) Division over the years, including Chair, technical program chair for the division’s conferences, and an instructor for TAPPI’s annual extrusion coating course. More recently, Hammond has been appointed Member-at-Large on the Division Council.
“This award is particularly satisfying and humbling because it is a representation of the appreciation and respect of my colleagues. It has been one of my greatest pleasures to work with such an outstanding group of volunteers and the amazing TAPPI staff that have always been supportive and helpful in all my endeavors with the International Flexible Packaging and Extrusions Division,” Hammond said.
The Ahbrandt Prize is a prestigious award among the TAPPI IFPED community and packaging industry. Honorees are selected in recognition of their outstanding leadership and exceptional service to the division which have resulted in significant and demonstrable benefits to the division’s members. Hammond is the third Mica employee to have received this award. The award is typically presented at the IFPED Division’s biennial conference held in the United States but was postponed in 2020 due to COVID-19.
