Bridgeport, CT
On Monday, November 19th, a team of Mica Corporation employees volunteered at ‘The Great Thanksgiving Project,’ a charity event held annually at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT. Each year, the event, organized by the non-profit organization Bridgeport Rescue Mission (BRM), facilitates the collection, sorting, and distribution of over 3,000 turkeys and 15,000 winter coats to families in need the week prior to Thanksgiving. Mica employees helped by filling bags with produce and turkeys, sorting coats, keeping the coat racks stocked, and assisting the guests shopping for coats for each of their family members.
Mica Corporation held its third annual coat and canned food drive earlier this month in support of the event. Along with several large bags stuffed with coats and more than 50 lbs. of non-perishable food items, a monetary donation was made to provide 200 Thanksgiving meals to local families.
“This is my third time volunteering for The Great Thanksgiving Project, and it always amazes me how many people are impacted by this event; both the volunteers and the participants. Mica volunteers for one full day of the project, and we get to meet and help hundreds of people in our community. It is humbling to be a small part of such a massive event that helps thousands of our neighbors in need each year,” said Jessica Spadaccino, Communication’s Manager for Mica Corporation.
Mica Corporation’s employees will continue working to give back to the local community in 2019.
