Mica Corporation, a global leader in water-based primers and coatings for the flexible converting industry, is set to present and exhibit at the TAPPI FlexPack PLACE Conference in San Diego, CA from April 15-17, 2024.
Jeffrey Siegel, President of Mica Corporation, will present “The Power of Partnerships in Sustainable Flexible Packaging” on Monday, April 15th at 3:00 pm. The presentation will emphasize the importance of collaborative efforts across the value chain to drive the development of sustainable packaging solutions. During the presentation, Mica Corporation will highlight our partnerships, including our work with Aquapak and SAM to create a high barrier, recyclable and compostable paper packaging.
To elaborate on the innovative partnership, Yong Zheng, Application Development and Technical Service Scientist at Mica Corporation and David Meadows, Product Manager at Aquapak, will jointly present “Extrusion Coating with PVOH to Produce High-Barrier Paper-Based Packaging” on Tuesday, April 16th at 8:00 AM. Together they will introduce a solution for extrusion coating PVOH to paper, including the processing parameters, equipment, water-based primer, and conditions necessary for success.
During the conference, TAPPI’s IFPE Division will launch a brand-new program that was developed with the help of Jaclyn Epstein, Chief Operating Officer of Mica Corporation and Young Professional Laison of TAPPI IFPE. The program helps young professionals working in flexible packaging and extrusion develop their skills and confidence needed to become technical leaders within TAPPI and the industry.

The scholarship is awarded every two years to a TAPPI student member and proudly honors the memory of Mica’s founder and converting industry trailblazer, Daniel Siegel.
