At Mica Corporation, we believe that success in business goes hand in hand with giving back to the community. That's why we're thrilled to share a heartwarming story of how our dedicated employees came together to support two incredible organizations: Bikes for Kids CT and the CMAK Foundation.
Bikes for Kids is a Connecticut-based nonprofit organization with a mission to provide refurbished and new bicycles to children in need. These bikes not only bring joy and a sense of adventure to children’s lives, but also provide a means of transportation and exercise, promoting a healthier and happier lifestyle. Our employees recognized the importance of this mission and rolled up their sleeves to make a difference together.
The bicycles we assembled with care found a special purpose with the CMAK Foundation's Race4Chase Kids Triathlon Program. This program is a testament to the enduring love of parents who lost their son, Chase Kowalski, in the tragic 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Chase was a vibrant and active child who loved to run and participate in triathlons.
To honor Chase's memory and share his passion for sports with other children, his parents established the CMAK Foundation and the Race4Chase Kids Triathlon Program. This program provides young athletes with the opportunity to train and compete in triathlons, fostering a love for fitness and a spirit of determination.
Our contribution of bicycles not only met an immediate need but also made a lasting impact. The Race4Chase Kids Triathlon Program requires bikes for the triathlon programs it organizes annually. Our donation not only provided bikes for the 2023 events but also ensured that many more children will have the chance to participate in the program in 2024.
This experience has strengthened our belief in the power of community involvement and the positive change that can result from even the smallest acts of kindness. As we continue to grow and innovate in our industry, we remain committed to making a difference in the communities we call home.
