Mica Donates and Distributes Meals and Coats to Local Families in Need

Bridgeport, CT

On Tuesday, November 22, 2016, a team of Mica Corporation employees stepped out of their offices to volunteer their time at ‘The Great Thanksgiving Project,’ a charity event held annually at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, CT. The event, organized by the non-profit organization Bridgeport Rescue Mission (BRM), collects, sorts and distributes over 3,000 turkeys and 15,000 winter coats to families in need the week leading up to Thanksgiving. Mica employees were spotted at the arena sorting coats, keeping the racks stocked, and assisting guests with picking out coats for each of their family members.

Mica Corporation held its first coat drive earlier this month in support of the event. Along with several bags of coats, a monetary donation was made to provide 200 turkeys with all the trimmings to local families.

Jeff Siegel, president of Mica Corporation said, “I am very proud of our team for sharing their time and effort to help those in our community who are less fortunate.”

Mica Corporation plans to host a food drive in December to continue to support the BRM by providing meals to those who need it most throughout the holiday season.
