Shelton, CT- Mica Corporation, a leading manufacturer and supplier of waterborne primers and coatings for the flexible packaging industry, will exhibit waterborne coating technologies for heat-seal, matte, and non-woven applications at the International Converting Exhibition (ICE) in Orlando, Florida later this month.

The first of Mica’s waterborne coating technologies that will be highlighted is MICA HME-118-B, a VOC-free aqueous emulsion that can act as a sealing layer for a wide variety of film, foil, and paper applications. It also adheres to common plastic container materials. It has broad FDA compliance in the USA, which makes it a great solution for applications requiring direct-food contact.
Mica will also showcase a waterborne heat-seal coating designed specifically for non-woven applications. MICA MC-140 is a VOC-free aqueous emulsion that can be used as an ink-receptive topcoat for barcode labels. It has exceptional adhesion to spun bound high density polyethylene.
The third functional coating Mica will exhibit is MICA T-605-D, a low-VOC, single-pass, two-part aqueous urethane dispersion that functions as a matte coating for plastic films and paper. It offers transparency and scratch resistance, and can be laminated or heat-sealed at temperatures up to 350oF (175oC).
Mica will also be exhibiting its premier line of high-quality primers that can be used for a wide variety of flexible converting applications.
Mica will exhibit at Booth 252, located in the AIMCAL Pavilion. The ICE show will be held April 25-27 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
