Mica Corporation Receives Clean Sweep Volunteer of the Year Award

Shelton, CT

Mica Corporation, a leading manufacturer and supplier of waterborne primers and coatings for the flexible packaging industry, is the recipient of this year’s Clean Sweep Volunteer of the Year Award presented by the city of Shelton, CT.

For the second consecutive year, Mica Corporation teamed up with neighbor and local business, Electri-Cable Assemblies, to rid Ivy Brook Road and surrounding areas of debris. On Earth Day, the team collected and disposed of 55 bags of litter, a few license plates, three tires, and an engine.

For the past nine years, the City of Shelton’s Parks and Recreation department has hosted the “Clean Sweep” event to encourage citizens and businesses to clean up local parks, streets, and waterways. Each year, the mayor of Shelton presents one individual, one organization, and one business with the award.

Jeff Siegel, Mica’s President and participant in the Clean Sweep said, “We are honored to accept this award. Mica’s involvement with this event is something I look forward to each year, as it's a chance for us to apply our eco-conscious concepts beyond Mica’s walls.”

Mica plans to participate in the Clean Sweep again next year.
